In spite of being so sad, this story was refreshing and inspiring. It was well written. Hopefully the author has another story to share with readers.
I highly recommend this book! It's delightfully written based on a true story. A story of a loving family, deep loss, determination, friendship, joy, perserverence, and finally, answers. You'll enjoy this book!
I bought the book when the author spoke at the public library in Phillips, Wisconsin. It was interesting to hear him speak of how the story was inspired by true events in his wife's family. He read the first chapter to us and some interesting discussion followed about the characters and the writing process. He read another chapter from a bit further on in the book, one that developed the characters further without giving away anything about the mystery of Daddy's disappearance. It is clear that he did a fair amount of research to help his story ring true, but I liked his comment that he wrote it as fiction so he wouldn't be required to be right. He also spoke about the process of self publishing a book. I purchased the book on a Tuesday, didn't start reading it until a few days later and finished it on Saturday, so it is definitely an easy read. You are drawn in by a desire to find out what happens to the family that was left behind as well as by a desire to find out what happened to Daddy. Family, friends and faith all play important parts in this story.
This was a fascinating and suspenseful story. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
