I would recommend buying this book simply for its content not so much it's presentation. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a better content orientation at the beginning; in fact, some of the pages seem to be missing!But still! This is a very affordable book and the words of one of the greatest hymn writers of all time are well preserved.

A high recommendation of one of the most celebrated hymnists of all time.
Biblical theology can be counted on when you sing the praises in the 'Hymns & Spiritual Songs' of Isaac Watts. I praise God for a secondary source that leads me and keeps me near THE CROSS.
I was pleased to get the book, but an editing error caused the index to be mangled, so it's difficult to find anything topically. Additionally, since the edition I purchased was pulled from an edition that lacked a title index, it's difficult to find anything. The company, however, has assured me that a new edition is coming that will contain both indices; I'm waiting on my new copy from the publisher. The typeface they use is easy on the eyes without being ridiculously large. If you need an edition just for your reference, this is good. If you're going to give a gift, I'd go with a different version.
An evidently complete collection of Isaac Watts' words, but no music..
Anyone that is deeply interested in studying (or simply reading) this volume will be highly grateful for the opportunity to enter into the thoughts and beliefs of the British pastor and poet who has been correctly labeled as the Father of the English Hymn.
edifying!! I read the ones I don't know and sing the ones I do.
Wonderful hymns by Isaac Watts. The songs tell what his relationship with God really was.....very deep and strong. They cause me want a deep relationship too but it takes a commitment to read and pray consistently. I am not that faithful. I do read the Bible daily with my husband but prayer has always been a short-coming. Reading or singing these songs can bring one closer to God. I recommend them.
