My fear of chemistry almost prevented me from achieving my dream of becoming a nurse. By conquering chemistry, I learned that desire, determination and the willingness to be uncomfortable can obliterate perceived personal limits. I applied that knowledge to my athletic self and was able conquer challenges which ultimately led me to finish the pinnacle of one day endurance events, the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. This book will inspire you to recognize and follow your dreams and not let your “Chemistry” keep you from achieving whatever your “Ironman” may be. Accomplishing any goal requires a first step and sometimes that step is the hardest. It is important to use our energy to work through obstacles, rather than make excuses. Obstacles are opportunities that either strengthen our drive to achieve a goal, or empower a perceived limit, which prevents us from experiencing a success waiting just beyond the obstacle. I missed seeing what was beyond many obstacles, until I recognized I was my biggest hurdle and found the courage to make a change. Allow me to inspire you to dream beyond self-imposed limits and find the courage to pursue those dreams.

Very inspirational read. I enjoyed reading about your ability to face fears and not just get past them, but to absolutely conquer them.

I was surprised when some of your passages evoked very emotional responses from me. Running in the dark in Hawaii hit me particularly hard. It really inspires me to face my own motivational issues that have plagued me for years.

I am going to get my daughters to read it. They need to understand that it is not about being the best, but doing your best and finishing hard things.

Thanks for sharing.

As a member of the "Green Team" this book brought a insight that I haven't thought of. This book is filled with passion, trials, triumphs and all out good feeling. This is a great book and a very easy read. This is coming from a non-reader type of a guy. Reach for the stars and touch them all type of book. GREAT BOOK 5 STARS.
inspiring book for the triathlete wish ironman aspirations. You can clearly feel the passion Andi has for the challenge, and feel you're there at the finish line !
A thoroughly enjoyable read! Very organized with great, motivational direction in teaching us all how to conguer our fears and become stronger people. Loved the analogy of not letting our chemistry get in the way of becoming an Ironman!!! Recommend this book to anyone facing or taking on the challenge of hard things.
This a great read for anyone who has ever competed or never competed. Poignant and funny, there are sections that resonate with non-althetes (myself) even while you read about an Ironman competition. Living Without Limits weaves an athlete's story of physical and emotional challenges into the fabric of a larger story about a woman facing a life challenge and learning that overcoming a fear of chemistry could take her farther than even she imagined. I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially to the young person you may know that really just needs to believe in him or herself to get started.
I don't read books for pleasure, much. The last one I read was probably about 10 years ago. I read this because I was very interested that the author (who I know) didn't seem like the type of person to ever write a book, let alone publish one. The book is written without graphic detail, but is full of honesty about what it takes to take one's fears, push them aside, and journey successfully into the unknown, even while being scared doing so. It also speaks of the amazing feeling which comes as a result of diving in and overcoming, and is never pretentious while doing so. Reaching the pinnacle of the book evoked emotion in me which I didn't think it would. While not much of a page-turner for me, Andi's book is motivational and thought provoking. It's definitely worth a read as a story about what it takes to pursue your dream and succeed.
Andy herself has personally inspired me and her story will help inspire you! My own first thought of ever tackling an Iron Man was put into my head watching Andy finish the Kona Iron Man on TV and she became my " unofficial coach" helping me reach my goal of finishing my first half Iron Man. For anyone who has participated in an endurance event you will know the feeling of accomplishment when you actually reach your goal just as it is relayed in this book. The book captures those emotions and puts them on paper and this book will help motivate anyone who reads it to conquer their fears and set a goal to do things they never thought possible and most importantly to reach that goal whether it is a career goal an athletic goal or just a personal dream you thought was out of reach. Whether you are the athlete a supporter of an athlete or just a spectator this book touches all of the emotions from the perspective of any one of the above. This book is an easy read but is filled with emotion and inspiration. I look forward to her next book.
As a member of the green shirt team at the Arizona Ironman, I can say that I totally loved ready this memoir. It brought back lots of memories for me in watching Andi compete in this amazing event. As a spectator it reminded me of how excited we were to see her at any stage of the challenge. I know I speak for most of us that our relief to see her come out of the water was not much different then the relief she felt! I also watched her progress online at Kona and was glued to my chair for every update. Her passion and excitement for this sport has spurred many others including myself to stretch and challenge ourselves to participate in things we never thought possible. I eagerly await the next books that will be coming. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a motivating voice to take the first leap and sign up for a challenge!
